Sequential Stopping Rules for Fixed-Sample Acceptance Tests
نویسندگان
چکیده
The occurrence of early failures in a fixed-sample acceptance test, where the sample observations are obtained sequentially, presents an interesting decision problem. I t may be desirable to abandon the test a t an early stage if the conditional probability of passing is small and the testing cost is high. This paper presents a stopping rule based on the maximum-likelihood estimate of total costs involved in the decision to continue beyond an early failure. A Bernoulli model, an exponential model, and a Weibull model are examined.

Multi‐arm group sequential designs with a simultaneous stopping rule
Multi-arm group sequential clinical trials are efficient designs to compare multiple treatments to a control. They allow one to test for treatment effects already in interim analyses and can have a lower average sample number than fixed sample designs. Their operating characteristics depend on the stopping rule: We consider simultaneous stopping, where the whole trial is stopped as soon as for ...
متن کاملSequential-Based Approach for Estimating the Stress-Strength Reliability Parameter for Exponential Distribution
In this paper, two-stage and purely sequential estimation procedures are considered to construct fixed-width confidence intervals for the reliability parameter under the stress-strength model when the stress and strength are independent exponential random variables with different scale parameters. The exact distribution of the stopping rule under the purely sequential procedure is approximated ...
متن کاملMultistage Tests ofMultiple Hypotheses
Conventional multiple hypothesis tests use step-up, step-down, or closed testing methods to control the overall error rates. We will discuss marrying these methods with adaptive multistage sampling rules and stopping rules to perform efficient multiple hypothesis testing in sequential experimental designs. The result is a multistage step-down procedure that adaptively tests multiple hypotheses ...
متن کاملFixed-Width Sequential Stopping Rules for a Class of Stochastic Programs
Monte Carlo sampling-based methods are frequently used in stochastic programming when exact solution is not possible. A critical component of Monte Carlo sampling-based methods is determining when to stop sampling to ensure the desired quality of the solutions. In this paper, we develop stopping rules for sequential sampling procedures that depend on the width of an optimality gap confidence in...
متن کاملA Note on Exponentially Bounded Stopping times of Certain One-sample Sequential Rank Order Tests
A simple proof of the exponential boundedness of the stopping time of the one-sample sequential probability ratio tests (SPRT’s) is obtained.
